In a compelling call to President Bola Tinubu, former lawmaker Shehu Sani has emphasized the importance of transparency and urged him to rise above party loyalty. Sani’s plea centers on the need for Tinubu to reveal the truth about what he inherited from the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. According to Sani, it is unjust to demand sacrifices from impoverished Nigerians without providing them with the full picture of the preceding administration’s actions.
Expressing his viewpoint on Twitter, Sani demanded that the Tinubu government set aside political affiliations and divulge the contents of the handover book, which details the state of affairs left by the previous administration. He argued that withholding this information while expecting the masses to bear the brunt of sacrifices is fundamentally unfair.
Sani’s statement coincides with the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the Tinubu administration, leading to an increase in the prices of petroleum products across the nation. In response, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened a nationwide strike next Wednesday unless the government reinstates the previous subsidy system.
